Kellie's Castle

Kellie’s castle was once meant to be a home away for William Kellie Smith, who was a Scottish Planter in the 20th century. Being so far away from his hometown, he wanted his new home to be reminiscent of his place back in Scotland.

William Kellie Smith is a very eccentric man who is very popular with his workers which consist of South Indian immigrants. Due to this, he had built a Hindu Shrine for his workers on the castle premises itself as a token of appreciation.

The building has made a name for itself when it is being used as a setting in the 1999 film Anna and The King. Other than that, the castle is also said to be haunted, and is filled with hidden passageways and underground rooms, which adds to its appeal among travelers worldwide.

3 TIPS FOR TRAVELING LIGHT IN MALAYSIA

Traveling have never been easier especially with the abundance of transportation and lodging possibilities. Other than providing affordable accommodations, we at DHotel Seri Iskandar would like to assist our guests in preparing for their trip beforehand. These are some traveling tips that we can think of to keep those luggage light for a seamless holiday!
1. Pack appropriate clothing

Malaysia is a tropical climate country, meaning it is mostly sunny all year round. We would advise for travelers to leave their heavy cotton sweaters and jackets at home and instead, bring along t-shirts, shorts, anything that is light and breathable to keep your carrying bags light and your clothes comfortable for the weather. There will be an instance where a jacket, more specifically a raincoat will be useful and that’s during a rare event of pouring rain. That is where tip number 2 comes in…
2.Keep it portable

When it comes to traveling light, the smaller it is the better! Packing an umbrella just in case if it rains here? Instead of the full sized umbrella, bring along the smaller, fold able umbrella that is lighter, and saves a lot more space for other necessities in that limited luggage space.
3.Be tech savvy

If you are traveling to a foreign country without knowing much about the place, it can be a little intimidating. Due to that, most will make extra preparations before their trip such as packing a local map, language guide book, and many more. Why pack those extra loads when you can access all that information and more through your smart phones!
